When a big event like World Cup comes up, the boards announce prizes to encourage the players. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the upcoming T20 World Cup in advance. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced a reward of 100,000 US Dollars (Taka 10 million) to each cricketer if Pakistan wins the World Cup.
The ninth edition of T20 World Cup is going to start on June 1. Pakistan, who were runners-up in the last edition, won this edition in 2009. This time too they are preparing the players for that purpose. Babar Azmara is currently in the training camp for the tour of Ireland and England. Naqvi talked about the award after visiting there.
Naqvi said to encourage the players, ‘There is no need to think about anyone. Play only for Pakistan. The nation has high hopes for you. We hope you can raise the flag of Pakistan.’ He announced that every player of the team will be awarded 100,000 US dollars if they win the T20 World Cup.
At one stage of the meeting with the players, the PCB chairman handed over special jerseys to Mohammad Rizwan and Nasim Shah. Recently Rizwan touched the milestone of 3000 runs in T20, Naseem completed the milestone of 100 wickets in international cricket.
In this year’s T20 World Cup, Pakistan is in ‘A’ group. Where their four opponents are India, Ireland, USA and Canada. Babar’s first match is against USA on June 6.
