IFFK should not be criticized, the film should be watched when it comes to theaters: Director V.K. Prakash

Director V.K. said that there is no need to criticize film festivals and those protesting the festival should pay money to watch the film when it comes to theaters. Prakash. He said that all those films should be watched and studied while criticizing the fair. The director was responding to the controversies at the Kerala International Film Festival. In an interview given to Mathrubhumi.com, V.K. Prakash said these things.

‘All of us came to cinema through the Film Society Movement. In our youth, if we wanted to see a movie, we had to participate in the film society movement. But such a big fair is being organized in the backyard. It gives you an opportunity to watch the classic movies of the world. All these films should be watched and studied while criticizing all this. Time spent on such criticisms should be spent trying to be creative.

When two or three screenings are planned for all films, it is discriminatory against other films to say that any one film should have more screenings. So if you are a movie lover, you have to spend money and watch it when you come to the theater. There are many difficulties in creating and conducting a fair. Such actions should be appreciated. The film festival is the greatest luck we get. The film festival gives us an opportunity to watch many films. Don’t people like Beena Paul show you the cross section of a good movie.

I was also the chairman in the jury that selects international films. Ten or fifteen films are selected out of seventy films. The time and coordination spent by the film academy for that is no small thing,’ said V.K. Prakash said.

There was a lot of criticism after the delegates who had booked tickets in advance at IFFK were not able to watch the film. After that, a strike was held under the leadership of the delegates. Problems arose at the festival during the screening of Mammootty-Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Nanpakal Nerath Mayakkum’.
