This event is of capital importance for the development of the constructive ambitions of the new generation, indicated, in a statement to MAP, Salah Al-Majeed, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering at Al Akhawayn University. .

Mr. Al-Majeed highlighted the importance of this event as part of the Kingdom’s strategic direction in the development of technological skills, particularly in engineering and science, among young people.

“The Faculty of Science and Engineering at Al Akhawayn University is always at the forefront of building this pillar, especially in collaboration and relationships between the private and public sector with the university “, he rejoiced.

He indicated that the University always aspires to contribute and actively participate in the construction of programs that encourage research in artificial intelligence or industrial engineering.

For her part, Deborah Bartlett, head of the Office of Employability and Entrepreneurship at Al Akhawayn University, explained that the aim of this event is to bring together students and professionals to find the best ways to use artificial intelligence in Morocco and the MENA region, particularly in payments and other sectors.

According to her, the objective is to improve accessibility for people who have difficulty accessing payment and to boost the Moroccan economy.

“Today we are welcoming 15 leaders from the banking sector, HPS and 50 students for a competition on the best artificial intelligence ideas,” she said.

Speaking at the opening of this meeting, Gilles Réant, Business Innovation director at HPS, focused on the long-standing partnership between HPS and the AUI, which materialized through the company’s participation in final year projects and student mentoring.

“This year, we decided to go further by organizing this innovation weekend. We will work with a dozen student teams to help them develop projects around the world of payment, accessibility and new services,” he added.

He noted that this meeting, marked by coaching sessions and prizes for the winning teams, takes the form of a hackathon where students will have to work intensively throughout the weekend to design innovative projects in the field of payments, while demonstrating creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.

Organized by AUI’s Office of Employability and Entrepreneurship in partnership with Hightech Payment Systems (HPS) until March 29, this competition highlights the potential of AI to transform the sector and improve user experience, while emphasizing the importance of inclusion and accessibility for all.

The HPS Innovation Weekend focuses on the application of AI in four key areas of payments, namely, operational efficiency, accessibility (physical and sensory), products and services and industries beyond the banking sector.

Participants will have the opportunity to benefit from supervision by mentors and present their projects to a jury made up of representatives of professionals from the banking sector.

At the end of this competition, the three winning teams will be awarded financial rewards and exceptional opportunities, such as support from the CFCIM Kluster and accelerated integration into the BlueSpace incubator.
