The general public of this festival, including locals and national and foreign tourists, was charmed by the poetry, sounds and dances of this art, which constitutes one of the main elements of the intangible musical heritage of Morocco and which testifies to the richness of the national and Amazigh folklore in particular.

In a statement to MAP, the artistic director of the festival, Nabil El Jay indicated that this edition coincides with the celebration of the Moroccan people of the youth festival, adding that the choice of the theme “the forest, a national heritage” is dictated by the geographical position of the city of Ifrane which is located in the heart of the Middle Atlas and its cedar forests.

This festival is an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of this forest, this national heritage of major importance, he stressed, noting that the forest will be the theme addressed by the scientific conference planned as part of this artistic and cultural event on the theme “the tree of hope”.

The festival is characterized by a rich and varied artistic program this year combining the traditional with the modern, said Mr. El Jay, adding that great stars of modern Moroccan and international song will be there this year, including Najat Atabou, Hatim Ammour and Maitre Gims.

Several other renowned Amazigh artists performed at the opening night, including Imane El Hajeb, Badr Ouabi and Yamna.

This evening, which took place in the presence of the governor of the province of Ifrane Abdelhamid El Mazid and elected officials, was marked by the tribute paid to the double Olympic and world champion in the 3,000 m steeplechase, Soufiane El Bakkali after his feat at the Paris Olympic Games.

Organized by the Ifrane Forum Association for Culture and Development (AFICED) in partnership with the province and the provincial and communal councils of Ifrane, the sixth edition sees the participation of a range of artists including Yamna, Imane El Hajeb, Ouabi Badr, Mimoun Ourahou, Hatim Ammor, Korda, Najat Aâtabou and Maître Gims.

The programme for this 6th edition also includes the first Local Products Village as well as several sports competitions including regional volleyball, badminton, futsal, clay pigeon shooting and fishing tournaments.

Created in 2016, the Ifrane International Festival aims to promote and enhance the economic, natural and tourist potential of the province of Ifrane and to highlight the richness and diversity of Moroccan intangible heritage and its openness to other cultures of the world.
