Following a tender under the Public Procurement Law, ICGB awarded a contract to a Bulgarian company for the detailed design of a gas metering station in Stara Zagora, which will expand the capacity of the Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector (IGB).

As Day.Az reports, the company informed Trend about this.

ICGB intends to modernize the gas metering station in Stara Zagora to increase its technical capacity from 3 billion cubic meters per year to 5 billion cubic meters per year.

As the next step in the ongoing capacity expansion process, ICGB has published, together with the Bulgarian transmission system operator, a design proposal for the Stara Zagora entry-exit point for public comment. All interested parties are invited to participate by submitting their comments and suggestions by March 4, 2024. A project proposal for the Greek natural gas transmission system DESFA will also be published soon.

The Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector connects Bulgaria with the Southern Gas Corridor and is part of the Vertical Gas Corridor. The pipeline strengthens energy connectivity and security in the region by providing access to natural gas from new, diversified sources.
