During the morning of this Sunday, August 25the death of was announced Ignacio Carillo Prietoformer head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Social and Political Movements of the Past (Femospp), the organization that investigated the acts committed by former President Luis Echeverría.
The news was revealed by journalist Jorge Ramos Pérez and later confirmed by other personalities such as Jenaro Villamil or the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)who mourned the death of the former prosecutor.

Let us remember that in 2001, the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Social and Political Movements of the Past was created under the mandate of Vicente Fox, who entrusted Ignacio Carillo Prieto investigate the events that occurred during the so-called “Dirty War”as well as the massacres of 1968 and 1971 in which Luis Echeverría was involved.
Carillo Prieto obtained a bachelor’s degree in Law at the National Autonomous University of Mexicoas well as Philosophy from the Universidad Iberoamericana. He also served on the Governing Board during the rectorship of Octavio Rivero Serrano.

According to an interview conducted in 2018, the former prosecutor revealed that He did not feel the support of former President Vicente Foxbecause two years after he was appointed as prosecutor, the former president asked him when he would close the prosecutor’s office, which years later would disappear in 2006.
In addition to this, Ignacio Carillo Prieto blamed Felipe Calderón for closing Femospp in an “act of impunity”, since he was allegedly never consulted National Human Rights Commission (CNDH)this coupled with the exoneration of Luis Echeverría.
