Ignacio Cossio, the first Ambassador, Permanent Observer Representative of the African Union

Last Thursday, October 17, Ignacio Cossio delivered the Letters of Credence to the President of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, which accredit him as Permanent Observer Representative of El Salvador to the African Union (AU). For the first time, the country has representation before the international organization. El Salvador is making firm progress on the African continent, occupying the multilateral space of reference in the capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa.

His extensive career and commitment to Salvadoran representation have led Cossio to be appointed as ambassador of El Salvador to the Kingdom of Morocco; of the Republic of Senegal; People’s Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Republic of Kenya.

Recently, the diplomat participated in an important business meeting with the Moroccan Businessmen’s Conference of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region.

During the meeting, he presented trade and investment opportunities in El Salvador to Moroccan companies, strengthening, at the same time, diplomatic relations and economic cooperation between both nations.
