End of sentence never for Norbert Feher, better known as Igor the Russian. The First Criminal Section of the Cassation rejected the appeal brought by the accused, making the life sentence for the murders of the bartender definitive Davide Fabbri and the volunteer Valerio Verri and the attempted murder of the provincial agent Marco Ravaglia, committed between 1 and 8 April 2017 in the provinces of Bologna and Ferrara.
Igor is currently being held in Spain, on trial for the murder of a farmer and two agents of the Civil Guard killed in December 2017 in Andorra after fleeing Italy. “Personally, I am not in favor of life imprisonment as a penalty in the criminal trial. However, I must add that the murders committed by Igor deserve it ”, comments the lawyer Fabio Anselmo. “A hug to Francesca and Emanuele Verri – continues the lawyer – Life imprisonment for Igor will not give them back their beloved father. That murder, nobody gets it out of my head, it could have been avoided. A page which I do not think our law enforcement can be proud of. But that’s just my opinion ”.
Feher, a 40-year-old Serb, was at the center of a manhunt that had begun in Emilia Romagna after the murders of Fabbri and Verri. For days the investigators had been fighting in the area on the border between the provinces of Bologna and Ferrara but not even the shadow of Igor. He would have been arrested in Spain at the end of an eight-month inaction. Before being captured, he killed in Spain two agents of the Guardia Civil and a breeder. Still in Spain he seriously injured two other people, crime for which he has already been tried and sentenced to 21 years
