Instead of buying firecrackers and fireworks themselves, citizens should donate so that a collective, professional fireworks display can be organized. This emerges from a message. The reason for the initiative is that a lot of garbage remains on the streets after New Year’s Eve. In addition, injuries and property damage can occur if people use firecrackers and rockets irresponsibly. Animals for whom “the blast is traumatizing torture” also suffer, the statement says. The idea came about immediately after last New Year’s Eve to offer an alternative to traditional, private fireworks displays. The model is the municipality of Heitersheim, where such a project has been implemented for two years.
The professional fireworks display will be limited to five minutes and will also be a highlight for tourists. If the weather is unsuitable, the fireworks display should be rescheduled for the Ihringer Wine Days. The initiative calls on citizens to avoid buying fireworks and instead donate. If the sum exceeds 6,000 euros, the additional proceeds will be donated to social institutions in Ihringen.
