IKEA and CentrumRowerowe.pl to Replace Carrefour in Galeria Echo

Galeria Echo in Kielce will replace its Carrefour hypermarket with a compact IKEA store and a CentrumRowerowe.pl cycling showroom, with both new locations slated to open in the first half of 2027.

A major retail shuffle is underway at Galeria Echo in Kielce, transforming thousands of square meters of floor space into specialized shopping destinations for the region. The shopping center secured lease agreements with two brands whose product lines extend far beyond daily grocery needs, bringing concepts to the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.

Carrefour Departure Sets the Stage for 2027 Overhaul

The transformation begins on the ground floor where the existing Carrefour hypermarket closes its doors. The market had operated at the Świętokrzyska Street location since September 2022, taking over the former Tesco space.

IKEA Brings Its Compact Format to Świętokrzyskie

For years, local residents looking for the Swedish home furnishing giant had to travel away or rely on alternative channels. The wait ends in the first half of 2027 when IKEA officially opens inside Galeria Echo, occupying more than 3,300 square meters on the ground level.

This location represents the third store in Poland built to IKEA’s compact format, blending the immersive room displays of traditional warehouse stores with the convenience of an urban shopping mall. Shoppers will find over 2,000 products available to take home immediately, alongside kitchen planning services, storage system design assistance, and a dedicated food section featuring a Swedish Deli and Bistro.

We are developing compact stores to be even closer to people. Soon, residents of Kielce and the surrounding area will not have to plan a trip to Kraków or Janki near Warsaw to visit our store, view inspirations, and purchase products on the spot.

The physical store builds on a multi-year effort by the retailer to deepen its roots in the region. In 2020, the company established an online order pickup point on Przemysłowa Street in Nowinach, followed by a planning studio inside Galeria Echo in January 2022. The upcoming compact store marks the first retail location in the entire voivodeship.

CentrumRowerowe.pl Opens Its Regional Cycling Hub

Sharing the newly cleared footprint will be CentrumRowerowe.pl. The space will house products catering to cyclists, providing access to nearly 100,000 different products through the combination of the showroom and online store.

The Kielce store is part of an omnichannel expansion strategy led by the retailer, which pairs online catalogs with physical inventory, expert advice, and hands-on equipment checks. Jacek Zieziulewicz, a board member at CentrumRowerowe.pl, pointed to the company’s recent recognition in Opineo industry rankings as the best sports and internet megastores in Poland as the operational standard the brand brings to the new shopping center location.

Galeria Echo Expands Its Regional Pull

The dual openings confirm Galeria Echo's position in the świętokrzyskie region. By replacing a traditional hypermarket with destination brands like IKEA and CentrumRowerowe.pl, property management aims to capture customer traffic from well beyond the city limits of Kielce when the new doors open in 2027.
