But after the arrival of Ilayaraja, he drew the fans towards him by playing folk music of Tamil Nadu. Many movies were made based on him. It was a time when his songs made many Mokai films run. A ceremony was taken when Mundanai Mudichi, directed by Pakhyaraj, celebrated its silver jubilee as a hit. MGR attended and gave a shield to those who worked on the film. Bhakyaraj put a ring on all of them. But when Pakyaraj wore the ring to Ilayaraja, Raja refused on stage. Seeing this, MGR Raja was shocked. Therefore, Ilayaraja accepted it without any other option but took it off as soon as the ring entered half his finger and immediately gave it to Bhakyaraj’s hand. This angered MGR himself.
Many years after the incident, AR Rahman wore a ring to Ilayaraja on a stage. It is also noteworthy that the king took it off and stuck it on Rahman’s finger.
