Yesterday (Tuesday) it was announced that for the first time since 1950 the beauty queen pageant will not be held this year, and Israel will not send a local representative to the Miss Universe world pageant, which will be held in January in the USA.

Ilanit Levy, who won the competition in 2001, wrote on her Instagram account: “It is true that we may be in a different era. And perhaps this competition is ancient to our days.”

“And there is no joy from me that the model of beauty these days is painted in so many different shades and styles. But my heart is soured and shaped. 22 years ago I stood there an excited and happy girl who didn’t know where she was going and what she wanted to do in life.”

“And how did I even get to this competition? When I got there I understood! This magnificent factory was the first step. The beginning of understanding what I want to do when I grow up.”

“The beginning of my professional dreams. I will always cherish my gratitude. It has a special place in my heart. And I know the criticisms, so I’ll just say briefly: I wasn’t the thinnest and certainly not the tallest and in my opinion not the most beautiful either. I also had an opinion on everything. So in my eyes it’s always There will be a culture that is much more than just beauty.”

As I recall, the previous Miss Universe competition was held in Eilat, and the one who represented us then was Noa Kochba.
