Austin Wells, 28, who works at Facebook’s parent company Meta, works from home and has leased an apartment on a cruise ship.
He has bought an apartment so he can travel the world while working remotely. MV Narrative, a large cruise ship, has 500 private cabins.
Wells has leased an apartment on the ship for 12 years. Wells gave an interview to CNBC news agency through a video call.
It says, “It’s exciting to travel to new places while taking care of daily life. What excites me the most is that it doesn’t disrupt my daily routine to see the world.
If you want to go abroad, you have to pack a bag, get on a plane and rent a room.
But now my apartment, gym, doctors, grocery stores all travel the world with me,” Wells said.
He has leased an apartment on a cruise ship for 12 years for US$300,000. The super luxurious ship has 11 different types of apartments.
The vessel has an area of 1,970 square feet. It has four bedrooms, a dining room, two bathrooms and a loft (balcony).
Wells plans to live there for at least three years while the ship travels around the world. He will also be provided with a private room to work with a gym, spa, medical services and 24-hour room service.
Owned by Storylines, the ship is slated to begin a world tour in 2025.
