“I’ll make another movie and retire for write novels“. Interviewed by the Spanish newspaper The vanguardon the occasion of the promotion of his book of short stories («Zero Gravity»published in Italy by La Nave di Teseo), the famous New York director Woody Allen announces withdrawal from the world of cinema to devote his time to writing novels.
Oscar-winning director of absolute masterpieces such as “Me and Annie”, «Manhattan», “Try it again Sam”, “Crimes and misdeeds”to name but a few, Allen has decided to put an end to one brilliant career five decades long, during which time it received well 16 nomination to the maximum prize for the best script. During the interview with the Spanish journalist Xavi Ayén, Allen declares that he wants to retire to write novels: “I’ll make another film and I’ll retire to write novels.” About his last filmset in Paris and shot entirely in French, the director anticipates to the Spanish newspaper that «it will be simile a “Match Point”exciting, dramatic and also very sinister ».
Allen had already expressed in the past the intention of leave il world of cinema.
