(ANSA) – SASSOFERRATO, 12 SEPTEMBER – The forestry carabinieri of the Ancona group carried out 27 checks during the summer of 2024 to protect water resources (water withdrawals, actions to combat pollution and the impoverishment of river ecosystems), contesting six administrative violations for an amount exceeding 52 thousand and one complaint.
The latter, conducted by the Carabinieri in collaboration with the Regional Environmental Protection Agency of the Marche Region (Arpam), was launched against the owners of a mechanical workshop accused of having illegally discharged hydrocarbons and used oils into the Sentino River in the municipality of Sassoferrato through an external pipeline, the discharge of which was subsequently blocked by the military.
For the two owners of the workshop, in addition to the obligation to comply, there is also the risk of arrest up to three years and a fine of up to 52 thousand euros. Also in the municipality of Sassoferraro, the forest rangers discovered an illegal withdrawal of water from a hydroelectric plant located on the Sentino river, charging the legal representative with an administrative offence of up to 50 thousand euros and the risk of revocation of the concession to the plant, since water was being taken from the river without leaving the minimum expected vital flow to support the watercourse.
Finally, three sport fishing lakes were fined because they did not have regional authorization for the protection of fish life and the aquatic ecosystem. (ANSA).
