Fuel distribution in the province of Manabí has been severely affected due to clandestine drilling in the La Libertad-Manta pipeline. This problem was made known on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

In response, Petroecuador has announced that fuel supplies for Manabí will be provided from the Pascuales Terminal (Guayas), Santo Domingo (Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas) and La Libertad Refinery (Santa Elena).

The intention is to maintain the fuel supply in Manabí and surrounding areas.

Petroecuador also notified the traders that the demand from the Barbasquillo Clean Products Terminal will be diverted to the aforementioned terminals and the refinery.

This measure was taken due to the decrease in the inventory of fuels such as Premium Diesel, Diesel Oil, Ecopaís and Super gasoline, caused by illegal taps that affect the normal operation of the pipeline.

Shipments of Premium Diesel are expected to resume from July 11, and those of Ecopaís, Diesel 2 and Super gasoline from July 15.

Petroecuador said it is coordinating strategies with the Ministry of National Defense and the Armed Forces to guarantee the security of strategic infrastructure.

The state oil company stressed that its technical team is working hard to resolve this situation in the shortest possible time and promised to keep the population informed about progress in solving the problem.
