Illegally smuggled timber worth Rs 25 lakh has been seized in Savagacheri area of Jaffna.
25 lakh worth of wood which was illegally hidden in a tipper vehicle has been seized and one suspect has also been arrested.
Today (25) the police checked the tipper vehicle which was loaded with stone from Mungavil in Savagacherry town.
During this, it was discovered that wooden sticks were hidden inside the stones.
Balai, Mudirai and Veerai are the wooden trunks that have been concealed in this way.
The police have taken steps to produce the suspect before the Savagacherry Magistrate.
