ILLIT’s Minju in Discussions to Depart as ‘Music Bank’ Host
A potential shakeup is brewing at the popular Korean music program “Music Bank” as ILLIT’s Minju is reportedly considering leaving her role as a host. The news, which surfaced on January 7, raises questions about the future of the show’s MC lineup.
On thursday, reports indicated that both Minju and fellow host Moon Sang Min were planning to step down from their positions on the weekly broadcast.A representative for KBS,the network airing “Music Bank,” later confirmed that discussions are underway regarding Minju’s possible departure.
“Minju is currently in discussions about the possibility of leaving ‘Music Bank,'” a KBS official stated.
“Music Bank” first aired in 1998 and has become a cornerstone of K-pop promotion, showcasing both established artists and rising stars.
However, the network has yet to release an official statement addressing the reports surrounding Moon Sang Min’s potential exit.
Minju’s Tenure on ‘Music Bank’
Minju assumed the role of MC on “Music Bank” in October 2024, having served in the position for approximately one year and three months. Moon Sang Min joined the show several months prior, beginning his hosting duties in May 2024.The reason for their potential departure remains unconfirmed, though scheduling conflicts due to ILLIT’s increasing promotional activities are speculated to be a contributing factor for Minju. KBS has not yet announced a timeline for finalizing the decision or a plan for finding replacements.
