Twitter CEO Elon Musk cuts costs for the struggling company, and even lays off maintenance workers, forcing employees to bring toilet paper to work

Employees at Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco and the company’s office in Seattle have complained of bad odors, following CEO Elon Musk’s cost-cutting.

According to the report in ‘Calcalist’, Musk’s cutbacks in the struggling company included the dismissal of maintenance workers, which forces the workers to bring toilet paper with them to work.

According to the New York Times report, workers claimed that “the smell of leftover food remained in the place… the showers are dirty, the workers are forced to bring rolls of toilet paper with them from home, since there are no maintenance workers.”

As mentioned, Musk unexpectedly canceled the cleaning services at the headquarters at the beginning of the month. The maintenance workers said that their entry to the building was forbidden without prior warning, a few weeks before the holidays, after they asked for a salary increase. A maintenance worker told the BBC that he has worked at Twitter for the past 10 years and has now been told his job is no longer needed because robots will replace human cleaners. But it turns out that the robots have not yet appeared.

As mentioned, Musk was forced to take the aforementioned steps in an attempt to save the company. On December 20, he described the situation as “a plane heading towards the ground at high speed, with the engines on and the control mechanisms not working”.
