jpnn.comJAKARTA – The University of Indonesia Alumni Association (ILUNI UI) conveyed its views regarding the education endowment fund from the results of a survey of active UI students and lecturers.

This was conveyed by ILUNI UI during a Public Hearing (RDPU) with three other Alumni Associations (IKA) of Higher Education Institutions and the Working Committee (Panja) for Education Financing of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the Meeting Room of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Nusantara I Building on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

The meeting raised the views and proposals of each alumni association representative regarding the current and future direction of national education policy, as well as views and ideas on reformulating the education budget, including education financing strategies.

ILUNI UI General Chair Didit Ratam conveyed the importance of synergy between universities.

ILUNI UI also proposed increasing healthy competition between universities, for example by competing proposals in competitions to receive aid funds (grants) and also universities need to work together and synergize with each other in research, utilizing technology, discussion forums and so on.

“ILUNI UI emphasizes the importance of support from Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives for tax relief incentive regulations in the form of tax deductibility for donations given by individual/corporate taxpayers to develop endowment funds and other donations for universities,” said Didit.

ILUNI UI understands that funds from the APBN and APBD cannot fully meet the needs of universities in Indonesia.

In addition to government assistance, universities must actively seek alternative sources of funding and assistance from various parties and manage endowment funds and donations well.
