Dimitri Pavadé has fulfilled his dream, he is now pursuing a new one. After having fulfilled his purpose of “being part of the French team” and “being the symbol of people with disabilities”, the long jumper, fourth in his T64 category at the Paris Games, is open for “another fight”.

“I’m looking forward to this moment. Here I am today, ready again to face, win and continue regardless of what others may say or think about me,” he wrote on his Instagram account, before revealing his homosexuality, not without humor. “YES, I AM SMALL, MIXED, AT A TIME, and to put it another way, GAY!!!!!! The person that I am and like others, never has to make a decision, so stay with your compassionate words and your judgments without thinking because you will not change the world,” said the 36-year-old athlete. A message full of courage in an environment where virilism is still everywhere.

Pavadé will see himself as a role model for other people in the world of sports. “I hope to give strength and courage also to people in the closet or high-level athletes who do not have the courage to live in the light of day and the freedom that they deserve come,” explained the Tokyo Games medalist.

“Weakness is not something to hide or be ashamed of, the same goes for your sexuality so embrace yourself as you are,” she advises before recalling some unfortunate facts that apply today : “Children and elders are still killing themselves or are being killed today. Don’t forget that the people around you can influence your day. »
