A traffic accident near a vocational school in the province of Holguín left three people dead.
One of the victims was identified on social media as Alejandro, who in a video posted by activist Niover Licea, is seen being carried on a stretcher, with many injuries on his body and with the question of whether he was still alive at that moment.
Cubans watched these images with indignation, realizing that in the face of Cuban medical impotence, they assist a wounded person and are unable to revive them or give them oxygen, despite the seriousness of their condition.
“They put him on a stretcher, I don’t know what to do, they didn’t check anything, nothing with oxygen, no one was resuscitating. Thank you!”
“Recently, in Cuba, an uncle had a similar accident and broke 7 ribs. In the hospital, they tried to move him (when that couldn’t be done) and they punctured his lung and he died, and nobody pays anyone,” were some of the comments about this event.
An Antillean woman said that, in this particular case, the ambulance arrived at the scene because the accident occurred very close to the military hospital, making it clear that on many other occasions, ambulances and emergency medical services do not even reach the site.
Other Cubans lamented the number of traffic accidents that are occurring on the island, and which have claimed the lives of many.
