Winter storm Elliott claimed at least thirty-two lives over the Christmas weekend. The toll could be even heavier, warn the authorities. Mark Poloncarz, chief executive of Erie County, a region particularly affected by the storm, said he feared that more deaths were to be deplored in his county.
“People have been stuck in their cars for more than two days, and others in homes where the temperatures are freezing”, he warned, Sunday, December 25. The emergency services went from car to car on Sunday to see “if they find bodies”described Mr. Poloncarz on CNN.
