Five people died and several were transported with injuries to different care centers as a result of traffic accidents in Guatemala City and the rest of the country’s departments.
It’s news. According to the Traffic authorities and the General Directorate of Road Protection and Safety (Provial), only on Tuesday, December 26, 14 traffic events were recorded.
Seven of the accidents were on different roads in the country and the rest in areas of Guatemala City. In the incidents that occurred in Zacapa and Jalapa, five people died, authorities and lifeguards indicated. Amílcar Montejo, Director of Communication of Emetra and the Municipal Traffic Police of the Municipality of Guatemala, reported eight incidents in zones 1, 3, 7, 9 and 12. One of the accidents occurred on Liberación Boulevard, in that incident Rescuers rescued three people. They used special equipment for the rescue.
Incident details. Provial reported that of the seven accidents in the province, one of the pilots responsible fled the scene. The routes where the incidents occurred are: CA1-Occident, CA2-Occident, RD-16, indicated the Provial authorities.
The accidents were between light vehicles, trucks, motorcycles and tankers that transport fuel. They recommended respecting traffic signs, not driving while intoxicated, not using the cell phone when driving, avoiding distractions, not passing and respecting the speed established on the routes.

Lifeguard confirmed a traffic accident at kilometer 180 route to the Atlantic jurisdiction of Gualán, Zacapa. Three people died in the incident. The victims were traveling in a pick-up truck, a tanker truck is involved.
