jpnn.comPARIS – The International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued a statement regarding allegations of transgender athletes in the women’s boxing event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Previously, Algerian boxer Imane Khalif was accused of being transgender after easily winning over Italian fighter, Angelina Carini.

Khalif was declared the winner after Carini lasted just 46 seconds in the ring. In the last 16 of the women’s 66 kg boxing class, Carini retired after taking a hard blow to the nose.

Khelif’s quick victory sparked controversy.

Many people have accused the 25-year-old boxer of being transgender because his appearance looks much more powerful than a woman’s.

The IOC then spoke out regarding Khelif’s involvement in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Swiss-based organization said all athletes competing in Paris 2024 had met the requirements.

“All athletes participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic boxing tournament have complied with the eligibility and competition registration regulations, as well as all medical regulations established by the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit.”
