The target of controversy during the Olympic Games in Paris, Imane Khelif is the cover of the November editorial issue ⁢of one of the most famous fashion magazines in the world. The Olympic gold medalist boxer at 66kg, controversial allegations that she was transgender during the Games.⁢ This ⁢month, Vogue Arabia honored ⁣Algeria.

At the Paris Olympics, Imane was⁢ attacked with hate speech ‌after news spread that she would not be a woman, which later⁣ turned into ⁤a fight between the International Boxing‌ Association (IBA) and the International Olympic⁣ Committee (IOC). Even with the support of the Committee, which confirmed the boxer’s gender after examinations, the attacks continued.

Even​ with all ⁤the hate, Imane stayed strong and won the gold medal. In ⁣the decision, Algeria beat China’s ​Liu Yang.

Last month, Khelif announced that he will switch to professional ⁤boxing, in the welterweight category (up ⁤to‌ 66 kg). The athlete did not say when she should start the‌ new competition, but said that she will take​ this step “soon”.
