IMAX has released two limited-edition popcorn buckets for Christopher Nolan’s 2026 film The Odyssey, featuring a Trojan Horse and a replica IMAX Film Camera. While the official merchandise has sparked debate over pricing and utility, AI-generated images of a fake Elliot Page-themed bucket recently went viral on social media.
The release of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has brought more than just cinematic ambition to theaters; it has introduced a high-priced tier of “geeky” collectibles. IMAX launched two specific popcorn buckets to coincide with the film, though they have quickly become lightning rods for criticism and confusion online.
The IMAX Film Camera and Trojan Horse Collectibles
One of the primary draws for the film is its technical pedigree. The Odyssey is the first feature film ever shot entirely in IMAX, utilizing a camera Nolan considers the “Gold Standard.” The film features a massive cast, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and about 50 other mega movie stars.
To celebrate this, IMAX produced a popcorn bucket modeled after the legendary IMAX 15/65mm Camera used in the production, as well as on previous films such as The Dark Knight and Interstellar. The collectible includes a viewfinder that lights up to reveal a scene from the movie in IMAX’s exclusive 1.43:1 Expanded Aspect Ratio. Alongside the camera, IMAX released a Trojan Horse bucket. While the camera bucket appeals to cinephiles, the Trojan Horse has drawn ire for its practicality. Some social media users noted that the bucket features a small compartment in the front that appears to hold less popcorn than a standard small portion.
Pricing and Social Media Backlash
The cost of these items has divided potential buyers. According to Sole Retriever, the Trojan Horse bucket is priced at $70, while the IMAX Film Camera bucket is $50.
This pricing has led to accusations of Hollywood absurdity.
One X user described the Trojan Horse as a “snack trap,” remarking, Nolan didn’t just adapt The Odyssey. He turned the Trojan Horse into a snack trap. Odysseus used it for war; we’ll use it for butter. 10/10 cinema marketing.

Debunking the Elliot Page AI Viral Images
Amid the release of official gear, a series of images began circulating on July 17 via the X account @Tesla7771. These images depicted a popcorn bucket featuring actor Elliot Page, complete with a door on the front for popcorn access, captioned as The official Elliot Page Odyssey popcorn bucket.
A second version of the image showed zippers on the character’s chest, captioned as The Updated Elliot Page Odyssey Popcorn Bucket.
These images were not official products. The images appeared to be AI-generated, as the only official buckets released by IMAX were the Trojan Horse and the Film Camera models.
Elliot Page’s Return to Nolan’s Set
Despite the fake merchandise, Page’s involvement in the film is real. After previously working with Nolan on the 2010 film Inception, Page joined the cast of The Odyssey. Although People reported that Page was initially rumored to portray the Greek hero Achilles, he actually plays Sinon, a Greek warrior.
