by time news

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was unable to decide on the future of the head of the fund, Kristalina Georgieva, as part of the Doing Business rating proceedings. According to Reuters, the meeting on this matter lasted five hours. The IMF has requested additional information.

“While the council has made significant progress in its assessment, the participants in the meeting agreed to request more details in order to complete the consideration of the issue in the near future,” – said in a statement on the IMF website.

Ms. Georgieva is suspected of having worked as the executive director of the World Bank to improve the positions of some countries in the Doing Business rating. We are talking about China, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates. Ms Georgieva denies the charges. Because of this, the compilation of the rating was suspended.
