O IMF (International Monetary Fund) continues to negotiate with Argentina a flexibility of the debt restructuring process, to allow the disbursement of new dollars by the country, said the spokesperson of the institution, Julie Kozack, in a press conference this Thursday (13).

According to her, the agreement seeks to provide more fiscal stability to the South American country in the midst of one of the biggest crises in its history. Negotiations have until July 30 to progress, so the technical agreement is not far from closed, ponders Kozack.

“We are going to move forward with the fifth revision of the agreement to help the Argentine government in the midst of a very complex situation,” he said. She points out that the IMF’s priority continues to be the fight against inflation in Argentina.

Julie Kozack also denied that China had pressured the council for Argentina to pay its debts with the agency in yuan if the agreement is not closed soon and said that the currency is one of five accepted by the IMF for countries to comply with its obligation.
