Opposition leader and AIADMK co-ordinator Edappadi Palanisamy has urged the Tamil Nadu government to immediately impose an emergency law to ban online gambling.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Ava said:
Incidents of people losing their lives due to online gambling and taking their own lives are on the rise. So far 23 have died. Does this government need any other reason than this to ban the great risk of online gambling? The formation of the study group raises doubts among the people as to whether this will be delayed.
The DMK government should abandon its initiative in setting up a committee and pass an emergency law to immediately ban online gambling in order to see a permanent island and protect the people from any further casualties from this gambling.
