Immunized from 21 August: we are the second in Italy – Pescara

PESCARA. Abruzzo will be the second region of Italy to achieve herd immunity. Maintaining this speed on vaccinations, before the end of August 70% of Abruzzo residents will be covered with the full cycle (first and second dose) or with single-dose (Johnson & Johnson).
These are the projections calculated on the average of the administrations of the last week. Abruzzo would achieve herd immunity on 21 August. Better, in the ranking of projections, only Campania (between 15 and 20 August) and Lombardy (21-24 August). Yesterday, in the meantime, over 11 thousand doses were administered: this is a partial figure because the vaccinations continued until late at night.
SECONDS IN ITALY. Abruzzo travels above the national average and, if it continues to maintain this pace, it will be the second region to achieve herd immunity. Of course, these are projections that change from day to day, but they denote a trend.
The curve of a first herd immunity, set at 70% of the population, was obtained by calculating the number of citizens already covered with double doses by crossing them with the trend of the last week of administration, identified region by region, of which it was averaged over the next three months.
THE PROJECTIONS. The unknowns of the analysis are three: that this average of administrations is, all in all, constant from here to reaching the threshold of community immunity; that supplies remain constant as now, that the rate of adherence to the vaccination campaign remains unchanged, that is, that over time there is no reduction in the number of vaccinees that would inevitably postpone these projections.
NEW DOSES. Abruzzo has enough fuel (vaccines) to make the organizational machine work and anticipate the times on herd immunity.
Another 63,000 doses of Pfizer will arrive today, as confirmed by Maurizio Brucchi, regional referent for vaccinations.
IMMUNITY. Brucchi himself says he is satisfied with how the vaccination operations are proceeding. “Abruzzo in this vaccination campaign has always proved to be a virtuous region,” says the regional representative.
“There was only one moment in which, for various situations, we were below average but this only happened a few days. The start was a bit difficult, then when we fielded all the hubs and the territorial organization with the municipalities, the Abruzzo system, behind the masterful guidance of the Regional Health Councilor Nicoletta Verì, it has proven to work and today it is vaccinated very well ».
«The car goes today, we have put the petrol, that is the vaccines, and we are able to use them. The fact that we will anticipate herd immunity to August 21, according to the latest projections “, concludes Brucchi,” is an important result for Abruzzo and for the people of Abruzzo who are showing a great sense of responsibility by joining the vaccination campaign. There is no longer the fear of getting vaccinated, luckily this problem has been overcome by us ».
THE UPDATE. Yesterday, Abruzzo administered 11,046 vaccinations. In detail, 3,399 in the ASL of Chieti, 3,132 in Teramo, 2,432 in Pescara and 2,083 in L’Aquila. An updated figure at 20 yesterday, but not definitive because the hubs remained open until late at night.
THE PHARMACIES. Pharmacists are ready to take the field. This was confirmed by the president of Assofarm, Venanzio Gizzi, in light of the resolution of the regional council that ratifies the acknowledgment of the agreement between the government, the Regions, Federfarma and Assofarm for the administration of doses by pharmacists. In Abruzzo, more than 50 percent of the 450 public and private pharmacies have given their support.
It will be possible to carry out an average of over 3,700 vaccines per day, equal to 15 for each pharmacy. A number that will facilitate the organization of activities. “I believe that activities can start by June,” said President Gizzi.
