The Port Authority of Marín and Ría de Pontevedra (Spain) is about to take a significant step in its digitalization process with the migration of local single window services to the new DUEPort telematics platform, as announced this week to the port community.

DUEPort is a maritime-port single window developed and managed by Puertos del Estado. This platform facilitates electronic interaction between various actors and authorities of the port community, allowing the electronic declaration of the information required for the call of a ship in a Spanish port. This change aims to streamline port management.

With this initiative, the Galician enclave is ahead of the provisions of the European Union regulation, which seeks to harmonize the procedures of the Customs Code of the European Union through the creation of a maritime-port single window environment of mandatory application from summer 2025.

Technological development becomes the central focus for the communication of information to be declared at the call of a ship in a Spanish port. Meanwhile, the harmonization of port stopover information will imply a modification of the procedures established so far, covering both the request and management of port calls as well as the presentation of cargo manifests and summary declarations of temporary storage.

To adapt to these regulatory changes and continue its digitalization strategy, the Port Authority plans to modify its systems in early 2024 to fully integrate into the DUEPort system. In this sense, a first day of dissemination of the changes has already been carried out, with the participation of representatives of the shipping companies of the port of Marín.
