Implementation of the Transition: the International Monetary Fund supports political and institutional reforms
(Ouagadougou, June 26, 2023). The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE received this morning in audience, a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Staying in the Burkinabè capital, the delegation led by the Deputy Head of the African Department of the IMF, Martin SCHINDLER, came to show its support for the Transition underway in our country.
According to the head of the delegation, the International Monetary Fund is present in Ouagadougou to discuss with the authorities of the Transition with a view to finding mechanisms for support from the Fund for the development program of the Transition.
“With the Head of State, we discussed the outlines of a program that we have started with the members of the government and we have communicated our program for the week to the Head of State”, declared Martin SCHINDLER to the outcome of the hearing.
For the Deputy Head of the Africa Department, discussions have already been held on certain Transition programs that could benefit from IMF support.
“We have already had discussions with the government on the reforms initiated by Burkina Faso with the possibility of financial support from our institution,” he said.
