The UN mission announced that the representatives of the House of Representatives, the State Council and the Presidential Council had reached important understandings regarding ways to resolve the crisis surrounding the Central Bank and restore the confidence of Libyans and international partners in this vital institution.

The mission said that the two councils agreed to submit what they agreed upon to the two councils for consultation, and that the consultations would be completed tomorrow, with the aim of final signing of the agreement.

The mission hosted separate talks between representatives of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State on the one hand, and the Presidential Council on the other hand, on the central bank crisis.

For his part, Member of Parliament Al-Hadi Al-Sagheer confirmed the agreement of the attendees on a mechanism to resolve the crisis of the Central Bank Governor and a committee for a specific period to follow up on the bank’s affairs and procedures.

Al-Sagheer pointed out that the agreement came after concessions were made by both parties, and concluded, for the first time, with the inclusion of the old and new boards of directors of the Central Bank. The agreement will be announced tomorrow after it is presented to the heads of the two boards.

Regarding the mission’s role, Al-Sagheer explained that its role was limited to presenting a proposal to the parties, which was adopted after study and approval, noting that the mission only attended the meeting as an observer.
