Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: Today, Thursday, the Federal Integrity Commission announced the issuance of a court ruling imprisoning an official in the Samawah municipality. Charged with money laundering and illicit gain.
The authority’s legal department said, in a statement, that “the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court in Al-Karkh issued a judgment in the presence of convicting the official of the Revenues Division in the Samawah Municipality Directorate of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities, which stipulates simple imprisonment for one year; Against the backdrop of inflation and illegal gain.”
The department added, “The ruling included obligating the convict to refund the value of the illegal gain amounting to (399,300,800) dinars, resulting from the purchase of two properties in Al-Muthanna Governorate with two cars (Tahoe + Sorento), in addition to having a bank account in Al-Rasheed Bank since 2015, which is not consistent with his usual resources.”
And she added, “The court, after examining the evidence, evidence, and the disclosure report issued by the Prevention Department, reached full conviction of the defendant’s negligence, so it issued its judgment convicting him of simple imprisonment for a period of one year in accordance with Article (19/Third) of the Integrity and Illicit Gain Commission Law.” No. (30 of 2011) amended.
And she continued, “The verdict against the convict included – in addition to refunding the value of the illegal gain – a financial fine equivalent to the value of the illegal gain, and that he will not be released after the end of the sentence unless the two amounts are paid, in addition to giving the Federal Integrity Commission the right to claim compensation.”
