The fires in Panopoulos and Nea Manolada are partially under control – A total of nine fires have started since Friday morning in Ilia

In Panopoulos Ilia, 32 firefighters were mobilized with a group of pedestrians, 10 vehicles and from the air 5 aircraft and a helicopter, and 12 firefighters with 5 vehicles, 3 aircraft and 2 helicopters tried to extinguish the fire in Nea Manolada. Local water bodies provided a contribution.
A total of nine fires started this morningthe Fridays in areas of Ilia and a team from the Arson Crimes Directorate is already on the scene. The team is expected to gather information about the causes of the fires.
All the fires that broke out in Ilia prefecture were dealt withafter “a large and immediate mobilization of firefighting forces”, as the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, states in his post on “X”, adding that nine different fires broke out in the prefecture of Ilia within . a few hours and with wind gusts of 6-7 Beaufort.
Earlier, a coordination meeting was held under Vassilis Kikilia for the fire in Geraki Ilias. Present at the meeting were relevant ministries, representatives of the Fire Department, security forces, the armed forces as well as all the agencies involved.
