Sepal. Mauricio Zurita, professor of the Economics program at Unach, said that, with this event, a first was marked in the city, and that it is an opportunity to recognize the work of certain actors at the national, regional and local level, from the which highlights the support that the institutions have had with society and in the area in which they develop.

Felipe Burbano, director of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (Flacso-Ecuador), who won the award in the academy category, stated: “the impulse that Flacso has given to social education (…), is very motivating; Promoting the work of the academy in the field of social sciences generates knowledge about the social realities of Ecuador and Latin America.”

Likewise, the circular economy category promotes sustainability and maximizes resource reuse. For this reason, those who have led this approach are the Quinueros Agricultural Production Association ‘San Francisco’, the Agroecological Producers Association ‘San José de Gaushi’ and the Agricultural Producers Association ‘Nitiluisa’. Marianita Lema, representing the associations that won in family economics, noted that the association is made up of around 60 people, and they manufacture organic fertilizer that is friendly to the environment and people’s health.
