Islamabad | Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party leader Imran Khan has launched a fierce protest against the government of Pakistan. Imran Khan’s party started the agitation with a jail filling strike from the eastern city of Lahore. The slogan of the struggle is to protect the fundamental rights of the people. Imran Khan tweeted that the aim of the strike is to protect the fundamental rights guaranteed to the people by the Constitution of Pakistan and that the strike is completely peaceful and non-violent.

The government is taking brutal measures against the protesters. Fake FIRs and non-bailable cases are being filed against media workers and those involved in social media. His party will also voice against the economic collapse of the country. The rich are looting the wealth of the nation. Unemployment and inflation are increasing day by day. He also clarified that through the new struggle, real freedom will be bought for the country.

Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Musharat Jamsheed Sheema stated that 200 colleagues were arrested yesterday in Lahore after the agitation started and that he will arrest them today in the protest on Lahore Mall Road.

Meanwhile, the police and the government are making strong preparations to face the strike. Punjab Home Minister Amir Mir stated that curfew has been declared in many cities of the country to drive away the protesters and gathering of more than four people is illegal. Mir added that the jails in Lahore do not have the necessary facilities and therefore those arrested will be sent to the jails in Mianwalia and Deragwasi Khan.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan has stated that he is all set to go to jail. However, the party leadership and workers responded that they will protect him at any cost.

Imran lost the post of Prime Minister last year following a no-confidence motion.
