Valuable gifts received during the reign must be presented in a gift repository or to the Tosha-Khana, a government collection. However, it is alleged that he sold the gift for Rs 18 crore in violation of this. It is alleged that the necklace was handed over to his aide Zulfikar Bukhari and sold to him.

According to the rules, gifts received during the reign can be redeemed after paying half price. However, Imran Khan, who lost the no-confidence motion, did not take such action.
