IMSS ensures that it has a surplus and secure finances until 2037

The IMSS Finance Director indicated that the Institute has financial sufficiency until the year 2037.
He added that at the end of 2022 there was a surplus close to 2 thousand 800 million pesos.
With this result, the fulfillment of the goal of reserves and labor funds was exceeded by about 3 thousand 400 million.

Despite the constant criticism he receives, The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) assured that its finances are healthy and better than ever. With this, it provides security and also emphasizes that its highest priority is to offer quality medical services to all its beneficiaries.

In this sense, the H. Technical Council approved the Report to the Federal Executive and to the Congress of the Union on the financial situation and risks of the Institute 2022-2023, during an extraordinary session that was attended by the recently appointed Secretary of Governorate, Luisa María Mayor Luján.

In this regard, the Director of Finance, Marco Aurelio Ramirez Corzo, pointed out that the structure of the report in a first part presents the global situation of the Institute, in terms of income, expenses and population. Subsequently, the financial situation of each insurance, labor liabilities and contingencies, as well as the state of facilities and equipment.

It abounded that at the end of 2022 there was a surplus close to 2 thousand 800 million pesos. With this result, the fulfillment of the goal of reserves and labor funds was exceeded by about 3 thousand 400 million.

Ramírez Corzo highlighted that in recent years there has been a more efficient management of resources. And this, together with higher income from incorporation strategies and inspection activities, allows a financial sufficiency until the year 2037with obligations as of that date estimated at almost 3.8% of GDP, but with enough time to continue with the analysis, implementation and strengthening of the strategies that allow the IMSS to have a longer-term financial sufficiency.

H. IMSS Technical Council recognizes Luisa María Alcalde Luján

Within the framework of this extraordinary session, the general director of the IMSS, Zoe Robledorecognized Luisa María Alcalde Luján for her outstanding work at the head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) and as a member of the H. Technical Council.

Zoé Robledo highlighted that the management of Mayor Luján at the head of the STPS allowed recover employment to levels above those prior to the COVID-19 pandemicwhen there are economies that have not yet achieved it.

“It is the vision of one of the Mexican policies that for the longest time has made the world of work its cause, its reason, not only from the Secretariat; but also with a really privileged mind and also as one of the politicians who most inspires the new generations to follow this noble profession of politics”.

Meanwhile, Luisa María Alcalde Luján proposed four points to address as future challenges: work on the new model of labor justice, in order to strengthen the legal areas of the Institute; have an administrative scaffolding for the delivery of pensions; return to the basic principles of the Federal Labor Law regarding labor relations; and evaluate modality 40, in order to generate balances.
