The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) has 25,166 nurses and additional nurses nationwide for the ordinary regime and IMSS-Welfare, hired between 2018 and December 2022. In this way, there is a coverage of 96 percent of places, highlighted the general director Zoé Robledo.

Hiring more nurses in key positions

New agreement for nurse interpreters

During this ceremony the Agreement was signed: Intercultural Health for Well-beingwith which support will be granted to a project to have 20 interpreters in the Tzeltal, Tzotzil and Tojolabal languages ​​in the morning and evening shifts at the Family Medicine Unit (UMF) No. 17 and the Rural Hospital of San Felipe Ecatepec, San Cristóbal, and the Rural Hospitals of Bochil, Ocosingo and Altamirano, and which to date has accompanied 5,000 interpretation processes.

“This will benefit more than 140,000 people who speak some of these three languages. And this agreement also contemplates training in multicultural communication for Nursing personnel, because they are the agents of change in the communities. At first we are going to train 350 nurses and nurses”.

In her message, the Delegation Coordinator of Nursing in Medical Care, Débora Maldonado Albillo, invited her colleagues to return to the origins of Nursing, which is art, science and discipline, “because caring for a patient and a sick person is not easy and you need a vocation to take care of them”.

During the event, the Agreement was signed: Intercultural Health for Well-being by the head of the IMSS Human Rights Unit, Marcela Velázquez Bolio, and the Legal representative Ixchel Accompaniment in Health, Fermín Reygadas Robles Gil, in order to maintain a collaboration for the translation and interpretation into Spanish of the different mother tongues of the indigenous communities where medical units and hospitals of the Ordinary Regime and the IMSS-Welfare program operate.

In addition, 102 Acknowledgments for Nursing Quality Care were awarded to nurses from the Ordinary Regime and from the program IMSS-Wellnessin order to recognize their effort during 2022 to achieve the goals, modify indicators and quality standards in the services under their responsibility, with the endorsement of their colleagues, colleagues, bosses, bosses and above all, the beneficiaries.
