IMSS joins Doctor Payaso to cheer up hospitalized children

The Doctor Clown Association arose with the aim of humanizing Medicine through laughter therapy and offering a bit of fun to patients facing a serious illness.
One of its members is Doctor Chiflón and together with his band he visited minors admitted to the CMN Siglo XXI Pediatric Hospital.
The objective of these visits is to transform the hospital space with an element of fun, love and connection.

Childhood is a stage of life in which fun and games should prevail. In many cases this is the case, but there are also others in which it is not possible due to a highly dangerous disease. To help children who are going through a situation of this type, the Doctor Clown Association.

The power of laughter therapy to complement medical treatments

In this sense, its main function is to go to hospitals to visit hospitalized pediatric patients and generate a moment of fun. One of the highest objectives is to humanize medicine and help in the process of recovering health with love and joy.

For her part, the Asociación Doctor Payaso maintains a close relationship with the IMSS Volunteers. As part of this union, they visited girls and boys hospitalized at the Siglo XXI National Medical Center (CMN) to bring them entertainment through games, jokes, imitations and good humor.

Alex Garcia, better known as “Dr. Chiflon”, has visited various medical units for 12 years in order to bring moments of joy and magic, in synergy with health personnel. This time he was the turn of the High Specialty Medical Unit (UMAE) Pediatric Hospital.

“We were able to witness the great work of the health personnel in the hospital, and also the beautiful work that the mothers do with the hospitalized children. We were able to play, build dreams, we met princesses, magical robots that tickled us from a distance with their hands”.

He said that the purpose of these visits is transform the hospital space with an element of fun, love and connection.

He indicated that for more than a decade the IMSS Volunteers have worked very closely, since both associations carry out work to accompany the patients, “and that is complemented by the work of the Volunteers to look for playful activities to entertain the children. , empower them, be their playmates during the hospitalized time”.

García pointed out that the association also collaborates with Social Security by sharing tools and emotional skills for health personnel, particularly Nursing, due to their daily contact with the right.

“Doctor Payaso is much more than fun, it is profound, and when you choose to serve you are a channel through which love flows, and when we connect from the heart we are medicine for each other.”

Testimony of a patient

Mrs. Alicia Romero and her nephew, Usiel, witnessed the spectacle of Doctor Clown. The minor has been hospitalized on the third floor for almost two months with various health problems, fever and seizures, for which various care is provided to restore his health.

“I found it very funny when the clowns arrived, I liked it when they told me my super power, when I told jokes and when they told riddles.”

Alicia thanked the visit, because the children spend 24 hours and seven days a week in bed, “they get stressed, even if we bring them games from being here for so long they get quite bored, and the fact that the clowns arrive it amuses and entertains them a lot. We appreciate the time you take to be with our children, brighten their time, and we would love for you to come back soon.”
