Like other years, remittance flow to Bangladesh has increased ahead of Eid. In the first 15 days of this month of March, 102 million USD remittances have arrived in the country through legal channels. An average of 6 crore 79 lakh dollars is coming every day. In local currency (at 110 taka per dollar), the amount is 11 thousand 208 crore taka.

This information is known from the updated report published by the central bank on Monday (March 18).

After reviewing the data of the Central Bank, it was found that in the first 15 days of this March, remittances reached 101.89 million US dollars. Out of this, 12.82 million 80 thousand dollars through state-owned banks, 1.5 million 5.5 million US dollars through a specialized bank, 87.2 million dollars through private banks and 3.2 million 50 thousand US dollars have come to the country through foreign banks.

In the first month of this year, in January, remittances came to the country of 210 million US dollars and in February, 2166 million US dollars came in.

In the last month of December 2023, expatriates sent remittances of 199 million dollars. January 2023: $195.88 million, February: $156 million, March: $202 million, April: $168 million, May: $169 million, June: $220 million, July: $197 million, August: $159.94 million, September: 133 Millions of dollars, $197 million in October and $193 million in November remittances.

In the last financial year 2022-23, the total remittance received was 2 thousand 161 crore 7 lakh US dollars. In the previous financial year 2021-2022, the total remittance came to 2 thousand 103 crore 17 lakh US dollars. In the fiscal year 2020-21, remittances reached a maximum of 2,477,770,000 US dollars.
