More blood donors at the DRK on the Wupper

For the first time since the Corona pandemic, the local association honored loyal and long-standing blood donors. They were invited to an afternoon barbecue.

The Dahlhausen-Wupper local chapter of the German Red Cross (DRK) can look back on a successful year. On Tuesday, long-standing blood donors were honored for the first time since the beginning of the corona pandemic. For this purpose, all jubilarians were invited to a barbecue in the Herkingrade community hall. With grilled steaks, sausages, salads and drinks, Chairman Dieter Neubauer honored 18 people for 25 donations, seven people for 50 donations, six people for 75 donations, three people for 100 donations, three people for 125 donations and one person for 150 donations.

“Especially at the present time, it is extremely important to be able to count on the largest possible number of loyal regular donors,” said Neubauer and reported that an average of eight new donors had appeared at the past blood donation appointments. This contributes to the pleasing trend at the local association Dahlhausen-Wupper. “The statistics of the West blood donation service for 2021 showed a number of donors that was about 14 percent higher than expected,” said Neubauer. He gladly forwarded the thanks of the West blood donation service to the donors.

After the awards, the eager donors got into lively conversation, “many of the jubilarians have known each other for many years, not just from donating blood,” said the chairman.

Because the Wupper Citizens’ Center onsiedlungsweg (the former Protestant parish hall) is currently being renovated, the blood donation appointments will also take place at least until the end of 2022 in the evangelical parish hall in Herkingrade. The next appointment is on Tuesday October 4th instead of.
