During his speech commemorating the 203rd anniversary of Independence, the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, highlighted the historic transformation of El Salvador, thanks to security strategies, which have restored faith and hope to Salvadoran families who, for decades, were subjected to gangs.
“In five years we have transformed the most dangerous country in the world into the safest country in the entire Western Hemisphere,” he said.
The Salvadoran president attributed these achievements to thousands of brave heroes who, day after day, guarantee the safety of Salvadorans.
“We have come this far thanks to their sacrifice and that of thousands of brave men and women who love their country, just like each and every one of those who are before me today. You have shown us that, by working together for the common good, and putting the collective good before the individual, everything can be achieved. Even what seems unattainable,” he added.
During the ceremony, they held a minute of silence in memory of the heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty on September 8 in the plane crash that occurred in the canton of San Eduardo, Pasaquina, La Unión.
