The arrest was carried out as a result of an intelligence activity by the Shin Bet that preceded it. The wanted person who was arrested is Muhammad Abu Zina, 27 years old, who lives in the Jenin refugee camp.

The wanted person is an activist of the Islamic Jihad organization and was released from prison in Israel last August. Immediately after his release, Zina returned to involvement in significant terrorist activity, during which he worked to finance and arm military infrastructure of the Islamic Jihad throughout northern Samaria. Upon his arrest, he was transferred to the Shin Bet investigation.
The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that the security forces arrested another released prisoner, Hamza Suleiman Abu Alroub, together with Abu Zina. According to the Palestinians, the two were arrested during an ambush set for them by the security forces in a village south of Jenin. According to them, during the activity dozens of people on the spot suffocated as a result of inhaling tear gas used by the forces.
