Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino

The Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino (PSB), wrote a letter to the senators and in it promises to act in a “technical and impartial manner”, if approved for the Federal Supreme Court (STF), ensuring the Constitution and “the laws of our country .”

Nominated by President Lula (PT) for the position, Dino lists part of his professional career and says that he has always maintained “a stance consistent with the ethics of legality, preserving principles and seeking the best results regarding the public interest.”

Over the course of four pages, Dino lists his legal credentials and says that he never left “the field of law” during his political life — as federal deputy, president of Embratur, governor and, finally, minister of Justice.

The former governor of Maranhão highlights that he had “the joy of serving as a judge” for 12 years and that he has a long academic career in institutions such as the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA), where he has been a permanent professor since 1994.

The president of the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ), senator Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), wants Dino and prosecutor Paulo Gonet, appointed to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), to be questioned not only on the same day, but simultaneously.

The reports will be read next Wednesday (6), and Dino and Gonet’s hearing is scheduled for December 13. The expectation is that the plenary analysis will take place next, on the 13th or the following day, the 14th.
