George Santos said he will not resign as deputy

The Brazilian congressman in the United States, George Santos (Republicans), said he was a “terrible liar” to the Talk TV program, on YouTube. The revelations were made to journalist Piers Morgan, columnist for The Washington Post and one of those responsible for discovering the false resume of the parliamentarian.

The journalist pressed Santos with the accusations against the parliamentarian and said it was necessary to admit the lies told to voters. Although he admitted the falsehoods, George Santos downplayed the case and omitted information to be accepted by the Republican Party.

“Clear! Well, I have been a terrible liar in these matters, and what I have tried to convey to the American people is that I have made mistakes,” he said.

“It was not about deceiving people. It was about being accepted by the party here locally,” he stated.

In addition to being accused of lying on his resume to be elected, George Santos is investigated for fraud in electoral accountability and sexual harassment against an advisor. He is still the subject of an inquiry by the Capitol’s ethics board.

The parliamentarian also stated that he did not believe in the discovery of the lies and stressed that his life turned upside down after the discovery of the case.

“Last night my husband and I went to the movies. As I was going to buy tickets to go to the concession stand to get to the theater, [havia] whispers across the theater. So it’s really weird, you know,” she said.

George Santos even admitted that he lied about the relationship between his mother’s death and the attacks against the World Trade Center, on September 11, 2001. He still treated as “jokes” the statements that he himself made about being “half Jewish”.

“I’ve always done it as a favorite party joke and I’ve done it on stage,” he said.

“I am not falsely claiming that I am a Jew. I would always say I am – I was raised Catholic, but I come from a Jewish family, so that makes me Jewish,” Santos said. “It has always been a party favorite. Everyone always laughed. And now that everyone is canceling me, everyone is fighting over a pound of meat.”
