After the Ministry of the Interior checked the names and the TIN of Martin Bojanov – the Notary, the data was analyzed in the Regional Ministry. Minister Andrey Tsekov explained to NOVA that there is a discrepancy with the EGN.

“Martin Bojanov, according to the birth certificate, was born on March 21, 1973, when there was no EGN system. The birth notification was sent to the district administration on March 22. In 1977, when the ESGRAON system was created, he was issued an EGN with a date of birth of March 22. That is, an incorrect date of birth. In the National Population Database until 1999, Martin Bojanov appears with this EGN,” Minister Tsekov explained.

According to him, the law allows changing the EGN because of a wrong date of birth or changed gender. Thus, Bojanov was given a new EGN after a request was submitted. This happens in 1999.

“There is a paradox. In acts of civil status – for marriage from 1992 and for the birth of a child from 1992, the EGN that he received in 1999 is reflected in the relevant regional administration. This makes me think that maybe before her identity documents are submitted with the EGN, which does not exist in the national database. It is possible that there is some kind of abuse during this period, which the authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor’s office should try to establish,” Tsekov explained.
