Chelsea’s crisis deepens. The Blues have already seen themselves manage to put together two league wins for the first time since October, when they led tonight (Wednesday) over Brighton, thanks to a Romulo Lukaku goal, but a dramatic equalizer by Danny Welbeck, deep in extra time, set up a 1-1 draw and a points distribution at the end.
It was one of Chelsea’s weakest games of the season and the good news for Thomas Tuchel is without a doubt the return of Romulo Lukaku. In the 28th minute the striker rose well to the corner raised by Mason Mount and hit accurately into the net of Robert Sanchez. It was the Belgian’s second consecutive league goal, also scoring in a 1-3 draw at Aston Villa earlier this week.
But the last word was reserved for Danny Welbeck. In the 90 + 1 minute, Mark Kokeria raised to the center of the extension and the Englishman scored the first right goal in the history of the Seagulls at Stamford Bridge Stadium. Brighton closes the year in good taste with a draw and stands at 10th place in the table. Chelsea, on the other hand, will now prepare for the big battle against Liverpool, when they see the champions Manchester City open a gap at the top.
